Movies and TV series about food are currently all the rage. Popular on demand services such as Netflix offer a great variety of food films and series. And yes, there are also items that are especially interesting for bakers, patissiers and chocolatiers! Here are the ones tailored to their needs.

Fun series for patissiers

Chef’s Table. A series that has dedicated its fourth season completely to pastry. Episode 1 is about crazy sweet tooth Christina Tosi, chef and founder of Milk Bar. A bakery with a unique twist on baking. The other episodes also include mouth-watering cakes and breads.
Nailed It! Amateur bakers with poor baking skills attempt to re-create edible masterpieces. This for a $10,000 prize. In each challenge the candidates have to replicate a baked good, only this never truly happens. Instead, these amateur bakers make the most hilarious creations.
Zumbo’s Just Desserts. These amateur bakers attempt to make a magical dessert just like pâtissier Adriano Zumbo. Racing against the clock the candidates are competing to be the next ‘Willy Wonka’ and to win a $100,000 prize.

Inspirational series for bakers

Cooked. A documentary series in which author and journalist Michael Pollan searches for the origin of our relationship with food. The season is divided in one-hour-long, beautifully shot episodes categorised as nature's elements. The episode ‘air’ is focused on bread. Bakers from all around the world show and speak about their passion for grains.
Martha Bakes. Martha Stewart has her own baking show on Netflix and episode 3 is all about the dough. Within the first minutes you’ll know that you came to the right place. You’ll see all kinds of baked goods looking extremely delicious. We’re talking pizza, pretzels and apple strudel. For each of those Martha brings in an expert, like Nick Malgieri, to show you their recipe.

Must-sees for chocolatiers

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Combine a classic story with Tim Burton’s creativity and you get this amazing movie. Whether it's the original movie with Gene Wilder that triggered your interest in chocolate or not, this remake is a must-watch for all ages. A fantasy for everyone with a sweet tooth, and especially for chocolatiers.
Chef’s Table. In the fourth episode of season 4 we meet chef Will Goldfarb. This American moved to Bali for some peace and quiet and now owns a restaurant called Room 4 Desserts. And yes, they only serve desserts. With only fresh and local ingredients. Will shows us how he uses fresh Balinese cocoa beans in very creative and beautiful dishes. This well-shot and truly inspiring episode is worth a big recommendation.

7x Instagrammable bakeries

These days, food does not only have to be tasty, we also want it to look ‘instagrammable’. That applies to dishes, but also to bread. Besides its delicious scent and taste, we love the look of fresh artisanal bread. It radiates quality and most consumers are willing to pay a premium price for it. But they don’t want to buy a premium bread in a bakery with an outdated interior. It’s a real plus when the bakery is instagrammable as well.
